Product Overview

Transformer sleeves are insulation protective devices installed on the exterior of transformers, used to cover and isolate exposed electrical contacts. They act like a protective suit for the "joints" of a transformer, mainly to prevent electric shock or phase-to-phase short circuits caused by accidental contact, foreign object intrusion, or small animals crawling.


Main Applications

Its applications are very specific, mainly insulating all exposed conductive parts on the transformer, including but not limited to:

1.High-voltage incoming lines of transformers: usually equipped with 3 high-voltage sleeves.

2.Low-voltage outgoing lines of transformers: usually equipped with 4 low-voltage sleeves.

3.Contacts of drop-out switches, lightning arresters, and isolating switches.

4.Busbar contacts in various switchgear.


Core Features

1.Excellent Material: Made of synthetic silicone rubber through a high-temperature vulcanization process. This material is highly flexible, tear-resistant, aging-resistant, and claims a service life of up to 50 years.

2.Strong Performance: Provides excellent insulation (insulation strength ≥20KV/mm) and flame resistance (LOI >35%). It is also resistant to high and low temperatures (-60℃ to 190℃ or 380℃), UV radiation, water repellency, and dust.

3.Easy Installation: Mostly uses a snap-on design that simply clamps onto cleaned bare conductors. This design also makes maintenance and repeated use convenient.

4.Comprehensive Functionality: Besides basic insulation protection against electric shock, it also prevents short circuits from foreign objects or animals, protects against acid rain corrosion, dust, and even unauthorized power tapping.

Product Classification

Transformer sleeves can be categorized in different ways:

1.By protection location: high-voltage incoming line cover, low-voltage outgoing line cover, arrester contact cover, etc.

2.By material performance: standard type, flame-retardant type, and ceramic fireproof/high-temperature-resistant type.

3.By connection method: equipment clamp type, Buddha-hand type, etc.


Selection and Considerations

1.Matching: Choose the sleeve model based on the specific shape and size of the transformer terminals.

2.Clean Installation: Ensure the exposed conductor to be covered is clean and free of oxidation before installation.

3.Standard Operation: Do not lift ceramic skirts directly during installation or removal; use the lifting lugs on the flange. For large sleeves, strictly measure parameters like dielectric loss tangent before installation.

4.Seal Check: Make sure the sleeve is tightly wrapped, and if necessary, use clips or electricity lead seals to secure it.

5.Environmental Limitations: Standard products are generally suitable for altitudes below 1000 meters and temperatures of -40℃ to 40℃.
